    Description

ANTIQUE 6-ROW ARGUS QUART FLINT GLASS
    DECANTER & FOOTED TUMBLER
Available for purchase is an antique flint glass decanter and matching footed tumbler.  The pattern is referred to as "Argus", with this particular version called "Barrel Argus".  The decanter is considered quart size and has 6 rows of oval-shaped windows on the body.  The entire piece was hand blown with a pulled neck and hand-tooled top.  The original stopper was also hand-blown and has 3 rows of oval windows.  The underside of the base has a 16-petal design with a polished pontil in the center.  The stopper has a pontil mark on the top.
The decanter stands about 14 1/4" tall to the top of the stopper and 11 1/8" tall with the stopper removed.  The body is approximately 4 1/2" wide at the shoulders.  The matching tumbler is 3 1/4" tall and 2 7/8" wide at the top.  This piece might be the very similar "Ashburton" pattern.  The maker of these pieces is not known for certain, although I've seen this exact decanter attributed to the New England Glass Company (located in the Cambridge area of Boston, Massachusetts) on a pattern glass website.  The tumbler is also attributed to the New England Glass Company.  These pieces were likely made sometime between the 1840's and early 1860's.
I purchased this set at a recent estate sale.  Both pieces are guaranteed to be genuine 19th-century flint glass and not modern reproductions.  Please check my positive feedback and buy with confidence from a trusted seller.
Condition of this Argus decanter and goblet is EXCELLENT.  The decanter has no chips, cracks, or fleabites.  The stopper has normal flaking along the base and an ash inclusion in the bottom.  The glass is clear with some very slight hazing on the inside of the base.  The goblet is also in great shape with a few small flakes along the sharp edge of one of the mold lines going up the sides.  Overall, this set looks fantastic and would make a fine addition to any flint glass collection.  Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.  I'm confident you'll be very pleased with this purchase.
If you collect antique glass, particularly early flint glass pieces, don't miss your opportunity to purchase this offering.  This decanter is hard to find, especially with its original stopper intact.  My Buy It Now price of only 0 is a bargain for this decanter and goblet.  So buy this set now before someone else beats you to the deal!
