    Description

    Description
: An extremely early American molded glass salt, dating from the 1820s. It's in dark, emerald green flint glass, molded into a scalloped panel or petal form.
It was most likely made by George Dummer's Jersey Glass Co, which was founded in 1824 and was probably the first manufacturer of pressed/molded glass items in the United States. It is closely related to both Neal's JY-1A, and the related unlisted salts of this same form, but this one is exciting as I cannot find this form documented or recorded anywhere. It's a double salt, where all the known Jersey Glass Co examples are singles. It's also in a much darker green glass than known examples.
